Hello iSci,
all are invited to attend the first iSci Society Social Committee meeting this Tuesday, October the 19th at 6:30 in iStudy. If you signed up for the social committee at the general meeting you will recieve an email shortly, if you haven't signed up and would like to join the committee this year please reply to this post. Finally, if there is a topic you think should be brought up at the meeting please reply and I'll add the topic to the schedule.

Meeting minutes:

Introduction
o Role of Social Committee: planning and running events, WW swag, other social endeavours
o Last year’s events: bowling & dinner, picnic, WW
 Picnic again in spring
o Events layout for this year: different people, different places, lots of leadership roles
 First and second years
o Roles of Social Committee members: brainstorming, planning, running, advertising
o WW overview: later in year, roles of planners, reps, and OC[/list]

Maintained and brainstormed events
o Annual iSci picnic (Spring)/Hamiltonian adventure
o Bowling
o Movie
o ArtSci formal, iSci art show, canoe trips

BigSib review
o BigSib set up (strengths, weaknesses, ways to improve)
o 2nd years need to be more proactive in meeting their little sib
o Have more events throughout the year
o Get emails earlier because then sibs can be in contact with one another over the summer
 See what ArtSci’s do
o Big Sib Social event (“”)
o Pitch in money for pizza because that way we wouldn’t have to get money from the MSS
o Plan for earlier in the semester

Ideas for social events
o Both years, 1st years only, 2nd years only, program collaborations, Sibs
o On campus, in Hamilton, out of the city
o Ski trips
o Medieval times
o Wonderland
o Paintballing
 In lab coats
o Lasermania
o Karaoke
o Movie nights
o Sleepover in Thode
o Coffee house
 Talk to ArtSci about attending one of their coffee houses first and then plan ours
o Take a quick survey before we actually plan an event
o Have one person in charge of each event so that they can actually get stuff done
o After thermo/drugs done plan a combined first year and second year event
o 1st event to put into action
o Hamiltonian adventure
 Go see Harry Potter?
o Discuss on forum and choose what we like the best

Ideas for other social endeavours
o Necessities for iStudy, swag (sweaters for 2013s and 2014s)
o Other ideas?
o Plants
o Decorations
