Number of Applicants?

For curiosity's sake...does anyone know how many applicants there were this year? And compared to last year? It'd be neat to see how the program is gaining in popularity.

I heard it was about 500 for this year. I have no idea whether that's accurate or how it compares to last year though.

I THINK there was 400 last year. But the fog that I'm looking through seems to be really thick.

Every year there is a mark cut-off, so that a realistic number of Supplemental Applications are read, though I believe this year the number of Supp Apps read was much greater than previous years -- part of the whole process to make sure those MOST qualified for the program are accepted.

I can confirm that applicants have been going up year to year, though I don't believe any student is privy to this actual number, and I'm not sure if the iCore are allowed to disclose it.

The numbers you guys are stating are estimates that I have also heard though.

Like Prateek mentioned, I am confident that the amount of applicants will increase over years. When I came into the program, a lot of people did not know what iSci is. Now, a lot more people seems to be aware of it. This means that as more people find out about the program, it would be logical to assume that number of applications would increase (remember that when you guys come, the program will be at its third year).

If you are right about 500, because 60 people are accepted every year, thats a 12% chance of getting into program this year, and if the number increases, it will probably get more intense (although I don't think its such a good thing having too low acceptance rate)
