Textbooks Empty
PostSubject: Textbooks   Textbooks EmptyFri May 06, 2011 4:39 pm

Ok, I know I'm REALLY jumping the gun here, but I was wondering about textbooks (again).

Does anyone know the list of required textbooks for first year? McMaster's Titles bookstore won't list fall term programs so I don't know what books I need. I might go tomorrow for May at Mac and thought it would be cool to buy all my textbooks (for iSci) used before they are all snatched up!

Umm...this however is conditional upon all the profs being the same as previous years and planning on using the same textbooks. I know previous replies and even the Titles website suggests waiting until after your first classes to make sure you are getting the right ones, but if iSci is guaranteed to be using the same textbooks again then why not? Then I could get a little bit of a head start over the summer (hmm...that's sounds really lame Smile )!

2 years ago (and I think it was the same this past year), iSci used the same books as other first year science courses.
This means that there will be tons of used books, and if you wait until September Titles will not have already run out.

I don't think anyone on the forum is going to want to guarantee that the same books will be used next year - what if one of the profs does some research over the summer, and figures out that there is a better book available?

Also, keep in mind that if the books stay the same, there will be lots of 2014s (and maybe some 2013s) who will want to sell their books for a lower price than Titles. So at this point, waiting is your best option.

Congrats on your acceptance!!!

Congrats Adam!

Yup, as Rachel mentioned, I would wait because a lot of the first years WANT TO SELL TEXTBOOKS. We have the same textbooks and a close-knit community so, I would capitalize on this textbook exchange. Don't worry about textbooks being sold out -- they must have copies for you, it's like a university rule. If there aren't enough the university must buy more.
