its not that i hate earth sci or anything, i just don't really have any particular interest in it, as opposed to chem, bio and physics.
so i guess my question is, how much earth sci is in the curriculum?
and do any of the older guys have/had similar feelings?

Hey,
There is only 1 hour of Earth Sci in a normal week, where chem, physics and everything else has 2. I didn't really have any interest in Earth Sci when I started iSci but I am now considering it as a concentration. It isn't everyones favourite subject but I found it really interesting to learn about something new. I don't know if that helps but you may find that you're interested in it once you give it a try!

Hey Katadare,

Also if you want to know the distribution of marks, chem bio and physics contribute 80 points each to your isci mark whereas earth sci only contributes 40 points.

I was vehemently opposed to earth sci and wished we spent the time elsewhere, but I quickly learned that it's very interesting and helps you see the world around you in a different way.

In summary, you'll be fine (:

Cheers,
Jared

As the first year earth sci TA, I promise you, it's fun!

At least in my year -- I entered in iSci with a Physics focus, and my friend with a biology focus, and we both ended up concentrating in Earth Sci, and are loving it. Three iSci students concentrating in Earth Sci just went on a 2 week geology field trip to Iceland (I'd like to see students in other concentrations doing cool stuff like that Razz).

Keep your mind open if you're in iSci!
