Chad, Sarah, and Carolyn have given a presentation based on the future of iSci.

In this presentation, they discussed 4A12 as a parallel to a 9-unit honours thesis, and a 3-unit symposium.

Do we like this? Do we have other ideas? How do we envision this 'symposium"

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Prateek, it's three years from now! I expect things are still pretty flexible if we do have any changes to suggest.

yeah, i think we got to wait a little bit longer before we expect too many details about that, but on an even more long term not any idea on the 5 yeras masters thing?

I think the 5 year masters is a bigger topic right now. It will take us breaking through a lot of red tape to get that, and its not in the hands of our profs (unlike the "symposium part of 1st year).

Maybe we should start seeing who else is interested in the 5th year masters, and maybe try to lead a student initiative to make it happen?

sorry, i'm just so excited. i think having this 12-credit thesis class will be really cool (as most are 6- or 9- credit), this extra collaboration should make it really unique

I think the 5th year masters should really be pushed for, and I think we could definitely get some help from iTeach on the admin side of things. if it is a possibility, I would be more than willing to do what it takes to make it a reality! all we need is some chadthusiasm! iSci-4A12 Icon_cheers

i think the profs have a lot more power in these matters; a student-led initiative may not work, but we can certainly approach iteach about it

I've asked the profs in the past ( a month or two ago) if some student initiative would help, and they said it could make a difference.

We should ask them again about it (see what the status is on it) and then go from there. If we can help, we might as well try.
