Big Sibs

Hi Everyone!

I just have a quick question about the Big Sibs program you guys have (which I think is awesome by the way). This may be covered in the letters that we will get but since I haven't got it yet, and it's been kind of bugging me, I thought that the upper years might know.

Does does the program start during the summer or as soon as we get matched up, like june? I think that it may be good to have a Big Sib advising on stuff like course selection.

Just a thought

also, when are we going to get coloured names?

Haha, the coloured names I will work on that Sarah. We might need some type of vote on which colour you guys would like.

Also, in the Exec, we are planning some ways to revamp this forum, so we may have an entirely new layout in the new future. If you end up being active within the iSci Society, this is just one of the many issues you can help contribute with.

I can't speak too much to the Big Sibs program, currently our VP Social and 2nd Year Rep (Emily and Kristin) have been organizing this. I will try to direct your question to them!

I'm glad to hear that you are excited about the BigSib program!

As for when it will start, that will depend on when all of the forms are sent back to me.
On the form, the deadline will most likely be the end of July, so hopefully I can have everyone matched up by early August.

In the summer there are no official events planned for BigSibs but you will be given each others emails as soon as I have completed the match up. You can ask your BigSib any questions and concerns that you have about courses, residence, or anything else related to first year that you are not sure about.

If you have any other questions about BigSibs please feel free to ask!

If you have questions about course selection you should post on the forum so that you can get different perspectives on courses you're considering

ps. I like purple as a colour for our names (not like the colour for iTeach that you have, more of a deeper purple, or would that show up?)

haha unilaterally making the decision on behalf of iSci 2015... I was thinking we could go with a yellow or an orange for your year, but I'll consider your purple proposal.

@ Sarah: Yesss coloured names lol And i tried out the "indigo" and it was a bit dark, i wonder about the violet...

adelle, I think I still like the indigo better, even though the violet is a little easier to see (however, personally, I can see both just fine) and does it really matter a huge amount if it's just for our names?

I currently made it this orangey-yellowy colour, but this can be easily changed if enough people are against it

We should've totally followed the pokemon coloring scheme, starting off with red and blue, and then continuing till we ran into a roadblock at like crystal or whatever the current one is called

This color is nice though though

If I can go back to original topic of Big Sibs, when are we supposed to get the forms? Was it with our acceptances package? If so, I didn't get one.

There is a welcome letter that you will receive electronically in a couple weeks (sorry not sure of the exact date!) and the BigSib form will be an attachment in the email.
