Social Meeting Updates

This will be the place to get the down low on what occured during the last social subcommittee meeting. (Also the future meetings once I learn how to travel in time.)

Meeting Notes

Money:

• We have none, but maybe in the future

Logo & Swag:

• Submit logo ideas, or ideas for others on the forum. Also send completed logos to the iSci Society email

• We wanna buy swag, so that no one on the corner got swagga like us swagga swagga like us

• Logos due Saturday, Feb. 6th

• Ideas for swag currently include clothes, mugs (to give to guest speakers)

Fundraising:

• Getting money and stuff

• Making buttons

• Charity casino nights

• Bottle drive

• Car wash

Parties and activities for us

• New locations, other than study space. Once we have club status we can rent rooms from the MSU

• Movie nights, maybe going out to a movie

• Bowling with group discount

• Social events can be open to other people too unless otherwise stated

• Games night

• Trips: to science centre, wonderland

• Dinners: Boston Pizza, East Side Mario’s

• Skating

• Ultimate Frisbee

Welcome Week and Orientation

• Faculty day

• iSci meet & greet

• Come up with cheers

• Jumpsuits or outfits

• Week after welcome week we continue activities for iScis

• Integrate them into integrated science!

• Altitude Course

• Mentors: 3rd year mentors 2nd, 2nd year mentors 1st, so that the line of kin continually grows

• Family!

For the next meeting please come up with more ideas regarding the aforementioned topics and how we can execute them. Bring your calendars.

I'm a big fan of the iSci "Snuggie"...

For the logo ideas, Krista, how do you want them? (in terms of file form, or whatnot). Do you want them done digitally, or is a scan of proposed idea ok?

My thoughts are for those who may have some good ideas but may not know how to do them up on the computer (and make 'em look pretty).

If you have the time and the know-how to make your logo on the computer that would be amazing! I'll take any Microsoft Office document, Photoshop, Coreldraw, pdf, jpeg, gif, or tiff. My computer is pretty well equiped, but if I have any issues recieving a submition I'll notify you.

I know many people won't be converting their image to a computer graphic, in which case a scanned image will work fine. I'll work to convert it into a computer graphic after you've submitted it.

Logos are due on Saturday, February the 6th. Have fun!

Just so everyone knows, there is no social committee meeting this week. Also, info regarding the bowling outing will be coming out soon so be prepared.

Here are some of the results of the last meeting.
Swag: Sweater versus t-shirt debate. Who will prevail?
Activities: Volunteering, museum-going, laser taging, paintballing, mini-putting. All some very cool ideas. Now we just have to choose what to do first.
Orientation 2010: Amazing Race competition and a speedwalking club! I wish I was joining iSci next year. Expect an orientation sub-group to be put together at the next meeting.
Field Trip: With the Frizz? No way! Some awesome places we've been thinking of going off to include Wonderland, Playdium, Great Wolf Lodge, Niagra Falls, Hamilton's waterfalls, ski trip, rafting, ropes courses, Stratford, go-karting, zoo, Dundern castle, Medeival Times, and Adventure Village.

Results of today's meeting:
Relay for Life: Our team is disbanded due to bad timing.
The OC: Welcome Week/Orientation committee to be made during the next general meeting on Thursday.
Welcome Week update: We will have our own welcome week reps specifically for (and from) iSci. Also, Jyssika and I attended another welcome week planning committee meeting and are in contact with the science welcome week planners.
Swag finalization: Top two clothing articles - sweatshirts and sweatpants. Other possible interests - travelling mugs, lanyards, pens.
Plan next event: Pot luck picnic and sports outing to be planned by Julianne, Alex, and Emily T.
iSci colours: Brainstorm of colours that we both like and aren't used by other faculties. These include purple, teal/turquoise, bright blue and the green of Aneet's shirt.

Be sure to come to the general meeting on Thursday!
