Shad Valley 2010 Empty
PostSubject: Shad Valley 2010   Shad Valley 2010 EmptyTue Jul 13, 2010 2:01 pm

Hey, helped out with one of the lectures of the Shad program today here at Mac, and it seems like a really cool program. It's amazing to see so many awesome kids excited about science -- and specifically in my presentation, cemented gravels, haha. Kinda wish that I had applied for it back when I was in high school.

Any Shad Valley 2010 students lurking around, who want to touch upon their experience?

Plus, I think a couple of the iSci 2014 students are Shad alum, for you guys, did Shad in any way influence your decision to come to McMaster -- or specifically iSci? If so, how?

Thanks guys, looking forward to feedback, as perhaps iSci and Shad could have some more formal connections in the future!

Smile Sounds awesome!!! Sounds like you are having a great time Smile I am a Shad alum. Although I wasn't in Mcmaster for Shad Valley, I was in Dalhousie, but the idea are very similar between all campuses (i think).
So I would have to say Shad did influence my decision to come to Mcmaster, because Shad incorporates small group setting, LOTS of teamwork/ collaboration, love for science and many more (and I love those stuff). When I was applying to this program, the first thing that came up in my mind was the shad valley program, and that basically helped me to choose mac's iSci. I REALLY loved the way it was run, and iSci sounded somewhat alike. I would prefer to study in that kind of environment, than sitting with hundreds of other people in a huge lecture hall.
Also the shads motivated and helped me to go "outside the box/ boundary" and I learned how much we can move forward through collaboration.
...sorry if I sounded cheesy Razz Smile

p.s. OH MY GODD!!!! I am soooooo jealous!! You get to work with the shads!!!!!! XD
